The house
The living spaces sit under exposed white trusses with floor-to-ceiling glass on two sides, so the green folds of the valley fill every room. Sliding doors open the lounge onto a terrace that steps down to the lawn.
When the Dullstroom mist rolls in, the brick braai indoors comes into its own, right next to the eight-seat table. Nobody has to stand outside in the cold.

Highland Gate Golf & Trout Estate
Highland Gate is a secure estate in the hills outside Dullstroom, built around an 18-hole Ernie Els signature course. Streams, weirs and dams across the estate hold trout, and walking, mountain-biking and birding trails run through the grassland.
